AFL Round 6 Betting Tips

Afl Round 6

Friday, April 24
Collingwood vs Essendon, at the MCG 2:40pm
The last few games between these two have gone down in similar fashion, whoever makes a fast start goes on to win the match.  Over the last 2 rounds Collingwood have been starting off extremely well kicking 9 goals to their oppositions 3 in the first quarter. Cloke strutted his stuff last week kicking 4 goals to hopefully regain some past form. With Swan, Sidebottom, Fasolo, Pendlebury and Lumumba all getting 30+ possessions last week, their core group of players are looking strong and ready to bring their A game to the Anzac Day match. Essendon are in disarray, this usually happens at the tail end of the year not when they’re still full of spirit. Two weeks in a row they have faulted and it doesn’t look like improving here. Carlisle had a standout year last year and needs to get some consistency back to help his team improve from here.
Tip: Collingwood -11.5 (Pick your own line) @ $1.98. Collingwood look way too strong here and should easily cover this line. Their scoring potential and strong defence put them way ahead of Essendon at this point.
Anzac Day Medal: Steele Sidebottom @ $19. Steele is having a magnificent start to the 2014 season, if he’s allowed at much space as he had last week look for this roughie getting up to take the medal.

St Kilda vs Brisbane, at Westpac Stadium 5:45
St Kilda shocked the AFL world last week beating Essendon. Apart from their hick-up against Adelaide a couple of weeks ago, the Saints are defensively holding their heads up high while their superstar Captain Nick Riewoldt is causing all kind of havoc all over the field. It was good to see Brisbane put up a lot more fight last week. They were in with a chance going into the last quarter but unfortunately got outclassed by a determined Richmond side. Brownie turned back the clock last week and will hope to out muscle the young Saints backline this week.
Tip: Brisbane Half Time Line +7.5 @ $1.90. This is a hard one to bet on, normally with these teams you look for the under score but it’s ridiculously low so hoping Brisbane can have a strong first half to bring this one home.

Fremantle vs North Melbourne , at Patersons Stadium 8:45pm
Fremantle looked uninterested last week and Ross Lyon was not impressed. With one of the most influential captains going around, not even him could pull the dockers to victory. It will be interesting to see how they respond, surely the home crowd won’t let them get away with a lacklustre performance again. North were absolutely outgunned last week by a fast running, high scoring Collingwood. Their forwards didn’t fire at all and their cult hero boomer Harvey got my votes as worst on ground.

Tip: Fremantle to win 1-39 points @ $2.10. Fremantle will be fired up and looking for a win at home against the Kangas. With Scott Thompson out look for the Super Pav to put on a clinic.

Ok I'm back, Friday got a bit out of hand and my tips would've been all over the place yesterday. Looking to get at least 2 out of 3 today to make a nice little profit for the day.

Sunday, April 27
Western Bulldogs vs Adelaide, at Etihad Stadium 1:10pm
The doggies are coming off a disappointing loss last week against the blues. Wasting their opportunities in front of goal in the last quarter they will hope to redeem themselves here. Adelaide on the other hand have been have come off two good wins in a row, but they will be wary of a spirited doggies outfit. With Taylor Walker coming back through the reserves yesterday Adelaide will start to look like a top 8 side again.

Tip: Under 194.5 Points @ $1.88. This is a massive total, coming of a disappointing loss look for the doggies to have more defensive pressure and keep both teams to a relative low total.

Richmond vs Hawthorn, at the MCG 3:20pm
Richmond are coming off a percentage booster last week, even though it wasn’t a great game to watch. They typically play well against the Hawks. It will be a battle of the midfields here, whoever gets the most clearances and quick entries will give their tall forwards the best chance to get a 1 on 1 contest. The Hawks are coming off another loss to Geelong, it was a hard bruising battle that might have them underdone coming into this game. On the positive they have their key defender in Brian Lake coming back into the team to bolster their undersized defence. Roughie needs to step up and show everyone what he’s capable of.

Tip: Richmond to cover the line (+33.5 Points) @ $1.92. Most people would back the Hawks to destroy Richmond today, but I think Hardwick will have his boys fired up and ready to take on the flag favourites. I don’t think they can win, but I do think they will put up a spirited fight and hopefully cover the line.

Port Adelaide vs Geelong, at Adelaide Oval 4:40pm
Port are cruising along very nicely this year again currently sitting second on the ladder. This will be their first major test of the year, and will hope to show their home crowd some magic. With Schultz dominating up forward this year he’ll be hoping to continue his good form against a fantastic Geelong backline. The Cats are purring again in 2014 having beaten their rivals last week in a fantastic match. They might be a bit sore but with Tom Hawkins back to his best and Harry Taylor as good as ever at the other end they should take care of the Power.

Tip: Geelong to cover the line -11.5 Points (pick your own line) @ $2.15. Geelong can’t afford to back off their pressure from last week and if they don’t a 2 goal win should be within their grasp.

Thanks for checking out my tips for the week, sorry for the lack of tips yesterday I'll bring back my best next week.
Happy Punting.
